Do You Believe In Miracles?

357551075a735cb9657150clg9 "Miracle - A marvelous event manifesting a supernatural act of a divine agent"....This is how the dictionary describes the word....but the way I describe it, is somewhat different. I define it as...."Miracle - an event that could change the course of your life". Like most of you....I have always believed that miracles exist, but had never witnessed one. The only thing that made me keep hold of this small little word was my belief, and Hope!

There are times in life when one has to make a choice....it could either be for a small thing, or something huge....but making that choice is often the most difficult thing one has to do. I faced something very similar lately. I know it would sound too bizarre and not worth mentioning for some of you, but for me, it is important - because it has changed the way I think - and the way I believe!

It all began when I was selected in two of the major software companies in India, and making a choice between the two was tough. I was also working in a place where I was having the best time of my life, and so the sadness of leaving it was also prevalent. One of the companies had asked me to join them on 22nd August - which I thought - was too damn close! The other company, better than the first one, had not announced its date for me, and so I was a little dubious as what to do and what not to. And taking the scenario of the present software companies....it wouldn't have been a surprise if they would cancel the appointment. I didn't know what to do....what to think....It was a huge decision for me....and I didn't want it to go wrong!

After thousands of phone calls to the people I trust and believe, I decided to go in for the company calling me on the 22nd August. I got ready, and reached the office. Cell phones were to be switched off, and so I followed the instructions. I sat through some of the induction, but then felt my heart was heavy. I asked for permission to go to the washroom - there, I turned my phone on and made 5 calls - to dad, mom, my brother, and 2 of my good friends. I told the way I was feeling to all one by one....and I was amazed by the way everyone came out with the same response - everyone asked me to run out and skip this company!!!! I again thought for a minute or two....talked to a few other people there....and then....ran out! I didn't know what I was doing....my brain went dead....all I knew was that I was doing exactly as my heart was telling me to do.

After the day ended....I started questioning my decision....I was thinking what if I messed it all up....what if It all just went wrong. I then decided to not regret my decision, and just face the consequences....whatsoever they may be! A week went past, and I was enjoying whatever I was doing....when suddenly I got a call from my best friend, saying that the other company had sent out its date as 29th September! The moment I heard the news, I closed my eyes and whispered "Thank You!". I felt that an angel had forced me to leave the first company the other day....because had I joined it then, I would have been crying right about now!!!! It was a true miracle for me....a miracle - that HAPPENED!

It is not everyday that things work out in your favour - but when they do - you feel that there is someone looking out for you....and you feel good - and energised - and Blessed! And if things do not work out....then it means that you are even more Blessed....because something really good is coming your way very soon. The most important thing one must keep in mind is to never regret your decision....because if you do....you are messing yourself up even more than you already are....Just believe....and things will fall in place automatically!

I now completely believe that miracles happen....so when will you?

That is wonderful buddy!I am so glad you got your miracle. What is even better is the fact that you realized it when it happened.

Yes I believe in miracles too. They happen at the most unexpected of times.I feel it's God's way of answering prayers of a pure heart with a clear soul.

May there be a lot more miracles lined up for you :)

Well, I already believe in miracles. I have always felt blessed and every decision I make has been great for me. I have an inherent belief that in changing my jobs, in taking decisions about life, Waheguru leads me on and He leads me on to the right track. Miracles are inside us. Miracles are the result of the faith we have-in our selves, in our people, in our God.

I do believe in miracles.. but it's almost like I'm at this edge where I need a sign to fully believe in them.. !

Talking of software companies.. I , for one, have a job that I do not want to join.. and still I'm trying for more tech jobs which again I know I wouldn't want to join..
but till the time the sign comes along..... :-)

Unknown said...

@Mampi: I totally agree....Miracles happen because of the belief in us, in our work....and in God! Yes, Waheguru Blesses everyone....and it is our course of action that directs the Blessing in different directions....

And I am so happy that things always work out for you....and I deeply truly wish that they always do....tody, tomorrow and forever! All The Best! And God Bless!

@Bhai With Chai: I know....signs are very important....and to be honest to u....i got bad signs that said I shudnt go for the company on the 22nd August....I woke up late....then my turban wouldnt fit....then my trousers got torn....then after reaching the office, I realised I forgot the offer letter....then, I didnt have the photocopies of the documents....the signs all said I should get out....and so I did!!!!

And I know that you have a job which you arent really interested in, but you will have to join it just to kick start your career...leter you can always change your paths....and do what your heart wants you to....and I wish you all the best for that!!!!

Well....what happened with your dad was truly a huge miracle....and I know the feeling you all might have had after those 5 minutes....God has His own plan....He sure Blessed your dad, and me too....May God Bless Us All, Everyone!

so u lied to me ..ey?the HR told you remember?
anyways you know where i stand in this regard.I have never believed in miracles and will never ever. The example u gave u call this a miracle..dude i told you to join than company remember..was that a miracle too?
it's simply common sense..you have to do what u have to do.No divine interventions ever happen ok.
I always have said that the choice has to be yours no one can chosse for you and it's your mind that helps u decide..whether in nervousness or in impulse.

without mind u are nothing.

Amen to that!

Good luck for a wonderful career my friend :)

oh and u wanted to get hold of the previous instalments of vamana's adventure right? well they are the previous two posts in the blog itself!! :) called "a little boy named vamana" and "vamana reaches kochi"...!!

Unknown said...

@V: Haha....you know what? Had you read the post deeply....you would have known that I clearly stated that it is a miracle to those who believe in miracles...for others....it is simply Luck, fate or what you call as Co-incidence!!!!

Well, for a believer like me, I would agree that you helped me decide by suggesting what I should do and what not....but I believe that I met you, and talked to you and that for me was again a miracle and not fate!!!!

Yes, I agree that the choice has to be ours....but there is a force that helps us make that decison....and that is pretty miraculous in itself....all you need to do is Believe!!!!

@Sameera: Thank you so much for your wishes. And yes, God Bless Us All, Everyone!

coz i don't believe in God,spirituality ,luck or anything..

for me ppl who are scared to accept their failures look for these things...the confidence has to come from within not from some stone idol or supernatural source.

i believe in all that has been proved ..if there is something that 100% proved, sure i believe that ...you got to have proof .

i believe in making my destiny..and i just don't like the idea that someone else is controlling my life...don't mess with me on this topic..you be happy the way u are living and let me walk my own path.

read this..with comments...before even saying anything....it will give u an idea about the me that i am ...http://smellofearthafterrain.blogspot.com/2008/06/religionsthe-illusion-creators.html

Hi Gagan,

Great to see articles on out of norm subjects.,.I feel glad for you that you got what you wanted !! Now coming to the topic heading, Miracles are abundant in our world. Its like opening our eyes to the enormous gifts spread across in this world. The very fact that a millions of tiny life forms work in sync within our Body to help us function is one of the greatest miracle in Earth. If one has the keenness to observe, everything around you is a miracle., Its just that we dont get ourself to appreciate such things.,.

The fact about "unexpected help" coming on unexpected times is a matter being debated... Its a kind of divine help for theist and for theoretical minded people, its what you think that manifest !! There is a book which delved more into this about how we can make things go our way and create a future for ourself. Check this out:

Keep Discovering !!

let's share my point of view on miracles...
its funny how these miracles are debatable. its funny how these 'miracles' can be interpreted as miracles, or interpreted differently. you would think a 'miracle' would be in your face and very obviously a fucking miracle. Some claim that miracles happen here daily, yet they are only miracles to those who are already extremely devout. if they were really miracles, they would be indisputable and no one would have any reason to doubt their authenticity. No miracles for me till now! then you might say "its because you dont believe!"....then they aren't miracles! if they were truly tangible, real examples of miracles, everyone would experience them, including non-believers, this is how reality works. is it not a bit strange that miracles always happen in places filled to the brim with uneducated fundies or unquestioning ignorant Shivsena ppl, catholics, hindu's,muslims? no its not a coincidence. these people WANT to see these things, and therefore jump at anything that might be able to be passed off as a 'miracle'.

/thousands of people go to GURU's and are healed/....oh really? so why do we have hospitals? we should just spend all the money we put towards hospitals on plane tickets to Lourdes or other places where mata, shiva, ganesh, jesus showed up in a cracker and let people be heeled there! there is no need for real medical science. all you need to do is believe, then pray to a fuckin wall,or an stone statue or a piece of toast with jesus's face on it, and YOU"RE HEALED!

I have an attitude, a frame of mind that looks at the world objectively, fearlessly, always trying to understand all things as a part of nature.

"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime; give a man religion and he will die praying for a fish." Unknown

@Anwesha: Am honoured, and will surely come and claim the award!;)

Unknown said...

@Paratrooper: Will surely come up with something new really soon....and I appologise for the delay....I was just engrossed in some work....! Please excuse my absence!

Unknown said...

@V: Thank you V, for sharing such a magnamanous theory of yours, I am really impressed. But my end thing is still gonna be the same....when I say that miracles happen....I donot bring in religion....I have and will always believe that there is someone looking out for me at all times, and that feeling makes me do better nad move on....and that is enough for me. For those like you who donot believe in such things, miracles still happen, but you are too engrossed in cursing the other things happening around you, that you donot realise the occurence of the miracle!
Anyway, Miracles happen for everyone alike....whether you believe it or not!!!! The sooner you realise it, the better! :)
